For all of us on the trip, this was an unknown peak.

We had some descriptions of the route, but we were in for suprises.

Trails that dead-ended, scrambles over rock with full packs on, hiking over shale - all tough.

Camping by the glacier, alpenglow sunrise, view from the peak,
the company of amazing and wonderful climbers - all wonderful.

With full packs, scrambling up to base camp.
This part of the trail is relatively easy.
The difficult parts were to brushy to show the "trail" difficulty level.
The trip guide said "...follow the faint climber's trail," for a few thousand vertical feet.
It took us hours!

We had to get there to camp up at that notch before we slept!
There wasn't water until we got to that point!

Our fearless leader

How would you like to camp here, next to Colonial Glacier?  We did.
I've wanted to see a remote glacier like this for years.
Now I don't have to look in books to see one.

There's our camp, at the bottom of the glacier.

Now over the saddle and to the Neve Glacier.  That peak is our destination.

The Snowfield Glacier is over 1.5 miles wide.

Eric: fearless assistant leader and rock master.  Never ruffled or miffed.

Peak is closer

We made it.  Fred, Peter, Eric, and Anandhi.

I had to get a picture of my current favorite peak:  Eldorado.  It's at far away center.

From the summit, Baker and the seemingly endless North Cascades.

Peter on the way down, through brush.
He took the rope I was supposed to carry because I hit my wall and needed recovery time.
Thanks Peter.

Colonial Glacier:  Our home for a day.

Having fun stitching 3 pictures together.
This gives a little better idea of the jaw-drapping beauty of this place.

Me.  I'm only half excited here because I'm wasted from the climb.

Fashionable Fred :)

As usual on a small summit, we all took pictures of each other over and over...

Packing up, moving out.
